Thebe Ikalafeng is Africa! Truly, he is the personification of what the Continent is, and what it has to offer! Proud and welcoming, cultured and embracing of cultures! He has been to all 54 countries in Africa and is one of the strongest advocates for the Continent and its infinite possibilities! Thebe believes that Africa/Africans, though no longer under direct colonial rule, is not truly free (Uhuru) but can be. He has an idea of how we can get there, and offers invaluable insight and practical solutions on what and how this can be achieved! Everything about Thebe Ikalafeng is centered around Africa. Having been to every country in Africa, building brands across the continent and summiting the highest free-standing mountain in the world, Mt. Kilimanjaro, he lives and believes in the continent’s possibilities. He is passionately engaged in driving an Africa-focused brand-led agenda that shapes the continent’s image and competitiveness. He is widely acknowledged globally as the pre-eminent authority on brands in Africa and has been recognized by New African Magazine as one of the 100 Most Influential Africans. Thebe founded Brand Africa, an inter-generational movement to create a positive image of Africa, celebrate its diversity and drive its ability to compete in global markets. Brand Africa's \"Brand Africa 100\" initiative is the only pan-African research organization that ranks brands in Africa, to highlight and promote excellence in building brands across the Continent. Brand Africa's other initiative \"Africa Brand Leadership Academy (ABLA)\" was created to ignite and enable Africa-focused global brand leadership. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
